Aguamala, a project founded in Playa del Carmen by drummer,

composer and producer Fernando Toussaint, Bernardo Ron,
Enrique Pat and Luis Ernesto López in 2004, a jazz band
with a fusion of rock and funk, considered by

the specialized jazz media one of the important projects
of the current Mexican Jazz scene. He has shared the stage
with national and international artists such as Eugenio
Toussaint, Tower of Power, Mark Aanderud, Big Band Jazz de
México with Armando Manzanero, Ginno Vanelli, Snarky Puppy
Chis Botti, Antonio Sanchez and Herbie

Hancock, among others.
Aguamala has 7 own record productions, they have also 
appeared (as guest musicians) in recordings with the
singer Eugenia León.
• Throughout her career, Aguamala has shared the stage 
with artists such as Sacbé, Herbie Hancock, Incógnito,
Marcus Miller, Eugenia León, Natalia Lafourcade, Diego
Maroto, Marc Anderson, Gino Vannelli, George Duke, Tower
of Power, Pedro Aznar, Hello Seahorse, Micca Mont, Ed
Motta, Victor Wooten, Wayne Shorter, Level 42, John
Scofield, Armando Manzanero, Al Di Meola, Pat Martino,
Mark Aanderud, Bigband Jazz de México with Armando
Manzanero and Billy Cobham among many others.
Upon the death of Fernando Toussaint (founder and drummer
of the group) Aguamala pauses and resumes with
Rodrigo López in 2020, a young musician who was sponsored
and upset by Toussaint himself since he was 4 years old
and today he joins the section rhythmic Aguamala.
